  • History of lowriding goes back many years. I personally can remember in the late 70's early 80's neighbors in South Central, Los Angeles charging the batteries to their lowriders off the street lights energy.
  • People that owned the lowrider entertained the neighborhood, especially the kids. The owners of the classic cars enjoyed seeing "all eyes on them" as they passed by and made their cars go up and down.
  • Soon, up & down was modified to side to side. Some owners of classic cars could only drop them or what we call today "slam" their cars. The neccessary modification to own a lowrider were expensive in comparison to the wages earned in those periods.
  • It is believed that lowriding started as early as the 1930's which is probably true but I wasn't born then.
  • When you see lowrider today either being towed to a car show or driven for that Sunday Driver cruise, show some love to the owner. The owners are passing on the passion and history.
